Main activities

  • Fundamental and applied scientific research and research and development works in the field of metrology for the purpose of developing methods, creating and improving the precision measuring instruments used in laser metrology and radiometry, measurement of continuous laser radiation power and energy of pulsed laser radiation, energy density distribution, wavelength and duration of the laser radiation pulse
  • Development of standards of energy and space-energy quantity units characterizing laser radiation

Main objectives

  • Development of instruments for measuring power, energy, pulse duration, and other quality parameters of the laser beam in different time frames (microsecond, nanosecond and picosecond)
  • Supply of laser watt- and joulemeters, instruments for measuring the quality parameters of laser beam
  • Development and delivery of working standards designed for verification and calibration of measuring instruments of domestic and foreign production in the field of laser radiometry
  • Support and maintenance of state primary standards of energy and space-energy quantity units characterizing laser radiation
  • Transmission of the reproductive unit sizes to the working standards supervised by the bodies of state metrological service and metrological services of state authorities and legal entities
  • Development and improvement of state and working standards, working measuring instruments according to the assigned types and subtypes of measurements
  • Testing, verification and calibration of measuring instruments according to the assigned types and subtypes of measurements
  • Participation in the development of regulatory technical documentation on the methods and means of measuring instrument verification; metrological examination of measurement techniques and tests
  • Analysis of the uniformity measurement system according to the assigned types and subtypes of measurements and the development of proposals on its improvement, considering foreign achievements

State primary standard of units of energy, energy density distribution, pulse duration and wavelength of laser radiation (SPS) reproduces, maintains and transmits the sizes of units to appropriate working standards.

State primary standard of the average laser power unit

GET 28-2009
State standard of the average laser power unit provides the reproduction of the average laser power unit within the range from 5x10-3 to 2.0 W and at wavelengths of 0.532; 1.064 and 10.6 micrometers. GOST 8.275-2007 State primary standard went through international comparisons and has calibration and measurement capabilities for measuring laser power at wavelengths of 0.532, 1.064 and 10.6 micrometers within the dynamic range from 0.02 to 2 W, approved by the International Bureau of Weights and Measures.

SIPH-1 Measuring instrument for spatial and energy characteristics of laser radiation

Laser intensity distribution formed on a special screen is fixed by monochrome television camera and with the help of RITS822 signal recorder transduced to digital form and integrated into computer. According to the operational software, the computer (laptop, which is a part of SIPH-1) provides processing and display of information in different variants selected by the operator. For the pulse duration of at least 100 ms all parameters can be measured with a frequency of 50 Hz
